- Manager Position for a European Integrated Project
- AGRON-OMICS (Arabidopsis Growth Network Integrating -OMICS technologies) is an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission within the Framework Program 6 involving the top European plant research institutes (www.agron-omics.eu). The AGRON-OMICS research program focuses on the integration of a wide range of molecular profiling and phenotyping technologies to unravel leaf and plant growth gene regulatory networks.
- Tomato Core Collection Workshop July 26-31, 2009
- The coming season is all about seeing what we “fished” out of the core collection screens and establishing diversity panels for traits that are important for tomato agriculture. The involvement of other EU-SOL labs in phenotyping the panels forms a strong basis for further discovery and innovation.
- Kazusa genetic map and markers
- The new tomato genetic map of Kazusa has been made public, see http://www.kazusa.or.jp/tomato/.

- Solanum pimpinellifolium genome sequence
- The whole genome shotgun assembly for the close wild relative of tomato, Solanum pimpinellifolium, has been pre-released on SGN by the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory scientists Doreen Ware, Richard McCombie and Zach Lippman. The dataset can be downloaded and used for BLAST. Please read the accompanying Data Agreement carefully.
- Tomato genome release: Assembly version 1.5
- The International Tomato Genome Consortium has released a new assembly, version 1.50. This version includes polishing with Solexa and SOLID sequences, and improved scaffolds based on BAC end linkage data. Please refer to the Data Agreement.
- SOL 2010, September 5-9
- The SOL2010 conference is approaching fast. Many thanks to those who have already registered it looks as if it will be an exciting meeting. - Tomato genome paper in Nature!
- Finally – the tomato genome paper has been published in Nature! In this paper both the Heinz genome and the genome of a wild relative S. pimpinellifolium are described. This has been a major coordinated international effort – as is reflected in the >300 authors from 14 countries! The quality of the assembly covering more than 35,000 genes is considered to be one of the best ever published. Well done everyone who has been involved.
