Manager Position for a European Integrated Project

AGRON-OMICS (Arabidopsis Growth Network Integrating -OMICS technologies) is an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission within the Framework Program 6 involving the top European plant research institutes (www.agron-omics.eu). The AGRON-OMICS research program focuses on the integration of a wide range of molecular profiling and phenotyping technologies to unravel leaf and plant growth gene regulatory networks.

 

Manager Position for a European Integrated Project

AGRON-OMICS (Arabidopsis Growth Network Integrating -OMICS technologies) is an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission within the Framework Program 6 involving the top European plant research institutes (www.agron-omics.eu). The AGRON-OMICS research program focuses on the integration of a wide range of molecular profiling and phenotyping technologies to unravel leaf and plant growth gene regulatory networks.

We are seeking a motivated plant scientist interested in furthering his/her career by increasing knowledge of cutting edge plant research. The Project Manager has the following responsibilities:

  1. To maintain records of all consortium activities
  2. To track progress of the project’s deliverables
  3. To organize, oversee and deliver annual project reports to the European Commission
  4. To take an active role in the coordination of scientific activities within the consortium
  5. To assist the coordinator and project’s partners in the organization of consortium and project’s boards meetings, as well as international workshops and training activities
  6. To maintain and regularly update the project’s website

The ideal candidate should have:

  1. Two-three years of post-doctoral experience in plant biology
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with both scientists and non-scientist
  3. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work within the constraints of given deadlines
  4. Thorough mastery of both written and spoken English
  5. Previous experience with managerial aspects of EU funded projects is an asset

The position is for 2.5 years. It is based in Ghent, a beautiful and welcoming city of 230,000 people that benefits from a large student population as well as a dynamic cultural environment. It is only 35 minutes away from Brussels and two hours from Amsterdam, London and Paris.
