Module 8
Detailed information about module 8

Module 8 - Dissemination of knowledge and transfer of technology to industry
| Module leader: Chris Bowler |
| This Module is devoted to the dissemination of EU-SOL knowledge and transfer of technology to increase awareness about tomato and potato quality to consumers, industrial or professional users (fork-to-farm chain). The implementation of a technology platform with resources from industry is envisaged and a Technology Transfer Platform will be established for EU-SOL academic researchers to license technologies to industry participants. |

| An interactive consumer approach is part of the challenges addressed
within this Module. Flexibility in the definition of 'consumer driven
quality traits' will be anticipated to enable useful and effective
consumer input. Input from consumer panels on consumer preferences is
envisaged for both organoleptic quality traits and health based quality
traits as well as the complete range of factors determining consumers'
buying behaviour. A close interaction will be established with WP 1.1 of Module 1 which also focuses on consumer preferences but from a different angle. Input from European consumer organisations on societal issues related to this project is an important aspect as well as frequent provision of information to NGOs and public about the progress of the project and the project related developments in science and society. Societal aspects such as GMO versus genomic approaches will be addressed by public participation, awareness and outreach (through interaction with Module 7) and the involvement of social scientists. |
