Module 6
Detailed information about module 6
Module 6 - Bioinformatics and integrated Solanaceae research
Module leader: Heiko Schoof
- Build technology that will enable integration in a distributed network
- Build high-quality datasets and develop necessary analysis methods
- Perform data integration and comparative analysis
- Build query and visualization tools
- Generate hypotheses through high level bioinformatics analyses
| To efficiently exploit genomics data generated within EU-SOL this Module coordinates data management and integrates data and analysis tools in a distributed platform for Solanaceae genomics. This includes databases for archival and management of data, analysis tools and comprehensive analysis, connectivity technology for integrating distributed data and analysis resources and standards for data representation and processing. Research and development in methods for statistical and comparative analysis of functional genomics data will result in novel methodologies that will immediately be applied to EU-SOL data. Comprehensive bioinformatic analysis and annotation of the tomato genome and other relevant Solanaceae sequence collections will generate an essential data resource for functional genomics, required both for experiment design and evaluation of results. All data, tools and results will be made publicly available through this web portal. |
SIFTER-X is a phylogenomic tool that assigns putative functions to protein sequences, implemented as a BioMoby workflow executable in Taverna. |
