Magic mouth

Transform the taste of a biscuit with the power of your saliva.

You will need
  • A water biscuit/plain cracker
  • Some saliva
Directions
  1. Get a biscuit and put it in to your mouth.
  2. Start chewing, don’t swallow it just keep chewing.
  3. Add another biscuit if you can fit it in without swallowing and keep chewing.

How does the biscuit taste?

What’s going on?

The biscuit should get sweeter and sweeter. This is because our saliva contains enzymes (what are enzymes?) which break down or digest our food. In this case the starch (basically flour) is broken down into sugars by the enzymes and we taste the sugar.
