Royal Holloway University and EU-SOL
RHUL’s role in EU-SOL is primarily within module 2, which deals with ‘Health-based Consumer Quality Traits in Tomato and Potato’. Quality and wholesomeness of food and food products are two issues addressed prominently by society especially in relation to obesity (and atherosclerosis), the most important cause of cardiovascular disease and age-related diseases, such as cancer and diabetes.
Module 2 is dedicated to screen tomato and potato for variation in levels and/or composition of antioxidants, other health-related nutraceuticals and minerals.
RHUL is also involved in module 6, the development of data and analysis tools within EU-SOL that will be will be made publicly available through a web portal.
