About Us
The Stazione Zoologica is the oldest marine biology institute in the world. Many other institutes were subsequently modelled on it, including Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Woods Hole Marine Biology Laboratory, and the Johns Hopkins Institute. The institute now performs basic research principally in marine biology, as well as with model organisms such as mammals and higher plants. We also have expertise in communicating cutting edge science to the general public of all ages, making the SZN an ideal partner for delivering the public engagement aspects of EU-SOL.
SZN and Eu-Sol
The role of SZN in EU-SOL is to present the research of this project to the general public in a comprehensible and relevant fashion. In particular, information about EU-SOL is being prepared in Italian and is being targeted to school children.
