Full name: Instituto de Biotecnologia - INTA

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina

About Us

Since it's foundation (1956) The National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) has had the aim of prompting and stimulating agro-research and gathering the benefits of these actions to enhance agribusiness and rural development. This aim is designed to contribute to the competitiveness of the national agro industrial sector in an ecologically and socially sustainable manner.

IB-INTA and Eu-Sol

The Instituto de Biotecnología´s work in EU-SOL is to contribute to the discovery of natural biodiversity in the Solanum genus. It is also responsible for providing genomic information that will allow other partners to put the current research effort in the context of hundreds of years of plant improvement. Specifically, the research effort of Instituto de Biotecnologia is focussed on deciphering the tomato mitochondrial genome (detailed in Work Package 5.4) and on discovering novel allelic (DNA) variations underlying tomato fruit metabolism from wild Solanum species (detailed in Work Packae 3.1).
