About Us
SEMILLAS FITO is a family company, located in Barcelona (Spain). We have been dealing with seeds and only seeds since 1880, and right now the fourth and fifth generation are running the company, together with a team of more than 300 people.
Our focus is to develop and supply high quality seeds for the growers of Mediterranean countries and South America in order to finally provide the consumer with a better product in terms of improved taste and Health & Nutrition characteristics. To reach our goals, we rely on many years of experience in plant breeding, a professional human team and our commitment to a R&D focused strategy.
We, as a company, deal with 3 types of cultivars:
- Vegetables seeds:
Mainly seeds of indeterminate tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber, melon, watermelon, squash, beans and broad beans.
- Field Crops:
Mainly hybrid corn, wheat, and some fourrage such as alfalfa, sorghum, ray grass.
- Grass Seeds:
We have develop a wide range of dark green turf grasses for professional use (golf courses, sport fields, gardens, etc) under Mediterranean conditions.
SEMILLAS FITO and Eu-Sol
SEMILLAS FITO’s work in EU-SOL is to transform the results of the research activities done by institutes and universities to new products with improved traits such as taste, better fruit quality and pest resistance. To enable this, Semillas Fito plays a role in the industry board by giving our experience in plant growing, phenotyping and identifiyng the traits that suit better in the different growing conditions of the markets worlwide.
