About Us
We breed what the markets ask for, using our know-how to support the skills of growers and satisfy the demands of food-conscious consumers. Enza Zaden, one of the leading, independent vegetable breeding companies in the world, has research centres strategically located around the world to cover different climates and growing conditions. Our extensive breeding programmes focus on three major groups of vegetables: solanaceous species, cucurbits and leafy vegetables. Other crops include leek, fennel, radish, cauliflower, onion, several herbs and kohlrabi.
The secret of our success? Close interaction between innovative R&D departments and commercial teams in many different markets. This enables us to create and market highly productive and reliable varieties perfectly adapted to different growing conditions and to specific consumer demands. We are proud of our famous varieties, like our tomato variety Extase from the past and our current successes Pitenza and Campari (Tasty Tom). We still continuously research ways to develop new, innovative varieties that distinguish themselves in today’s international markets in colour, taste, shape, nutritional value or growing habits.
Enza Zaben and Eu-Sol
Enza Zaden plays a role in work package 3.3 and 4.3. We have made a part of our tomato genetic resources available to the EU-SOL scientific community. Results of the research will be used to develop new varieties for the world market.
