Who owns the genes?
In plant breeding, like in any industry, protection of Intellectual Property on inventions is essential to secure return on investment and maintain innovation. The patenting of genes and plants containing those genes is highly contested. What is your opinion? Should genes be patentable? Can innovation be secured without patents?
